The United States has successfully intercepted an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel attempting to breach its naval blockade of Iranian ports, according to United State President, Donald Trump.
The ship was given “fair warning to stop” in the Gulf of Oman but refused, so the navy “stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room”, Trump says, adding the ship is in US “custody”
The operation marks the first ship boarding by U.S. forces since the naval blockade took effect Monday, as part of Trump’s effort to exert pressure on Tehran.
