Two Reps Members, Ex-Lawmaker Join APP Ahead of 2027 Poll

Two serving members of the House of Representatives and a former federal lawmaker have joined the Action Peopleโ€™s Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The trio, according to a statement by the APP chieftain and member of the House of Representatives, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, have also been listed among the partyโ€™s candidates in the Independent National Electoral Commissionโ€™s final list for the 2027 National Assembly elections.

The lawmakers are Rt. Hon. Boma Goodhead, Rt. Hon. Alozie Munachim Ikechi and Rt. Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima.

Goodhead, a serving member of the House of Representatives representing the Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency of Rivers State, is listed as an APP candidate for the 2027 election.

Ikechi, who currently represents the Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, is also contesting the 2027 election on the platform of the APP.

The third entrant, Uju Kingsley Chima, is a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo State. He is also listed as an APP candidate for 2027.

Welcoming the three politicians into the party, Ugochinyere described their decision to join the APP as a significant development for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the party was excited to receive what he described as โ€œgreat democratic fighters,โ€ adding that their entry would further strengthen the APP as a political platform for politicians committed to democratic values and people-oriented governance.

Ugochinyere said, โ€œI want to welcome you all to the big elephant party and wish you great success in the battle ahead.

โ€œOur party is excited to have great democratic fighters like you in our midst.

โ€œAPP is a political home for independent-minded, new-generation politicians seeking to change old ways for a new way that is dominated by the peopleโ€™s interests.โ€

The development is expected to further raise the political profile of the APP as parties begin to position themselves for the 2027 elections.

Ugochinyere is the APP chieftain and a serving member of the House of Representatives representing the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State.
