Tinubu Raises Alarm: ‘stop Using My Name For Selfish Ambitions’ — Villa Sources
..... President Warns Political Associates as INEC Candidate-List Controversy Deepens

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly expressed strong displeasure over what he described, according to Villa sources, as the desperation of some political associates seeking to advance their ambitions in his name.
The development comes amid the controversy surrounding the latest candidate lists released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), particularly the exclusion of the names of Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and his running mate from the Ogun State governorship list.
According to sources cited by THISDAY, the President is concerned that actions by some associates could damage the image of his administration and undermine his stated commitment to credible and transparent elections.
The source claimed that some individuals close to the President had drawn his attention to what they considered irregularities surrounding the candidate list, particularly allegations that certain party actors were already celebrating the possible removal of names before the final list was formally released.
“No one should continue to drop his name to advance their selfish ambitions,” a presidential source was quoted as saying.
The source further claimed that Tinubu had expressed dissatisfaction with attempts to portray the electoral process as being manipulated for political purposes.
INEC has officially published a final list of candidates for the Ogun State governorship election as part of its 2027 General Elections updates.
A senior APC chieftain quoted in the report said those who alerted the President were motivated by concerns over his democratic legacy.
According to the source, the President wants his administration to be remembered for strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that elections are conducted transparently.
The source also claimed that an emergency meeting involving members of the President’s inner political circle was being considered to address the growing tension within the ruling party.
The report further identified First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as one of those allegedly involved in efforts to resolve the matter.
The controversy has intensified in Ogun State following the publication of INEC’s final candidate list.
The development has placed Senator Solomon Adeola at the centre of a fresh political dispute, coming against the backdrop of controversies that have surrounded his governorship ambition.
Adeola and his running mate have reportedly challenged their exclusion and appealed to their supporters to remain calm. THISDAY also reported that the development has become a major talking point within Ogun’s political opposition, particularly the PDP and its governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu.
The latest episode has consequently opened another front in the increasingly contentious battle over the 2027 Ogun governorship race.
For the Tinubu administration, however, the central issue now appears to be whether internal political manoeuvring will be allowed to become associated with the President’s name and his administration’s electoral credibility.
As the controversy moves toward possible legal and political challenges, attention is now firmly on INEC, the affected candidates and the courts for the next chapter.
