Ovaloop Technologies Launches Retail Operating System to Digitize Nigerian SMEs

Ovaloop Technologies has unveiled  an integrated retail operating system designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria manage inventory, sales, payments and reporting from a single platform.

Speaking at the media conference yesterday in Lagos where the company’s leadership presented the solution, Mr  Princewill Mba, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ovaloop Technologies, described the platform as “the Microsoft Office of retail businesses.” He said the platform goes beyond payment collection to cover end-to-end operations. “Our goal is to help businesses manage their operations from end to end — from inventory and stock management to sales, payment collection, and business reporting,” he said.

Mba noted that most SMEs in Nigeria operate in the retail sector, whether they realize it or not. While many tech solutions focus only on payments, he said Ovaloop was built to change that narrative by giving business owners full control of their operations. He added that funding remains a major barrier for retailers in markets like Onitsha and Alaba who generate strong revenue but lack credible financial records to access loans.

According to him, Ovaloop solves this by generating reliable business data that banks and financial institutions can trust. “We believe access to quality data is essential for business growth,” he said. The CEO said the company spent several years developing the technology and believes now is the right time to push it to the grassroots level.

Mr. Daniel Kilanko, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, explained what sets Ovaloop apart. He said while there are many good retail management solutions, Ovaloop was built specifically for the Nigerian and African business environment. A key feature, he said, is both online and offline functionality, with access via web, Android and iOS, allowing owners to monitor operations in real time from anywhere.

Kilanko highlighted Ovaloop Pay Protect, a payment verification tool designed to reduce staff fraud. “Every sales transaction must be linked to a verified payment before it can be completed,” he said. He added that the platform eliminates the need for disconnected systems for inventory, payments and accounting by integrating everything seamlessly.

The CTO said the long-term vision is to expand Ovaloop into a full business ecosystem. Future integrations will include e-commerce, delivery services, supply chain management and supplier interactions. “Ultimately, businesses will be able to generate reliable, bankable data that financial institutions can confidently use when assessing loan applications,” he stated.

Chairperson of Ovaloop Technologies, Mrs. Titilope Ejimagwa, said she partnered with the company because of her trust in the founders’ integrity. With nearly four decades in marketing and 29 years in network marketing, she said she understands the pain points of entrepreneurs. “One of the biggest challenges entrepreneurs face is inventory management, stock control, and maintaining proper business records that make their businesses bankable,” she said.

Ejimagwa shared a personal experience of employee fraud, recalling how a trusted staff member later confessed to stealing from her business. “Unfortunately, this is the reality many business owners face,” she said. She added that Ovaloop provides an end-to-end solution to address operational challenges, especially inventory management and staff-related fraud.

The leadership said retail continues to grow across Africa as more people embrace entrepreneurship. Ovaloop’s vision, they stated, is to become the leading technology platform that helps retailers run efficiently and scale using reliable business data. With Ovaloop now being rolled out more widely, the company says it is targeting millions of Nigerian retailers who still keep manual records or use separate systems.
