The LADO Media Team, the umbrella body of media professionals supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, has responded to recent comments by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, regarding the PDP manifesto and the campaign of the party’s Ogun State governorship candidate.*
The team described YAYI’s comments as misplaced, saying it was surprising that, at this stage of the political process, he was still questioning a policy document that had been presented as part of the PDP’s agenda for Ogun State.
According to the team, a serious engagement with the manifesto requires attention to its contents, policy proposals and the solutions it offers to the challenges confronting residents across the state.
“It is unfortunate that Senator Adeola appears more interested in counting the number of vehicles in the PDP campaign convoy than in understanding the policies and programmes being presented to the people of Ogun State.
“Perhaps if he had paid closer attention to the issues being raised by the PDP and its candidate, he would have a better understanding of what the manifesto seeks to achieve for the people.”
The media team maintained that the Ladi Adebutu campaign is structured around the needs and aspirations of Ogun residents, with emphasis on human development, economic opportunities, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment and improved welfare.
It further stated that the campaign has continued to engage communities and stakeholders across the state, arguing that the strength of a political movement should be measured by its connection with the people and the substance of its programme, rather than by the number of vehicles in a convoy.
The team also took issue with YAYI’s references to Adebutu’s political activities, saying the Senator should concentrate on explaining his own policy agenda and addressing the legal challenges surrounding his political journey rather than attempting to divert attention to the PDP manifesto.
“Instead of creating distractions around the PDP manifesto, Senator Adeola should tell the people of Ogun State what his own programme of government is, how he intends to implement it and how it differs from the alternatives being presented by other political parties.
“Democracy is better served when political actors engage one another on ideas, policies and records rather than distractions and personalities.”
The LADO Media Team reiterated that the PDP campaign remains focused on presenting its vision to the people of Ogun State and engaging voters on the issues that directly affect their lives.
The team therefore challenged YAYI and other political actors to subject their programmes to public scrutiny and allow the people of Ogun State to compare the different policy proposals before them.
“Ultimately, the people of Ogun State are the judges. They deserve a campaign centred on issues, programmes, accountability and measurable commitments, not distractions.”
