Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a soldier recently declared wanted by the Nigerian Army for allegedly supplying military accoutrements to terrorists and other criminal elements. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal support networks fueling insurgency in the North East.
The suspect, identified as 23NA/84/1939 Private Mohammed Yusuf of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, Lagos, was apprehended at about 6:30 p.m. on 25 July 2026 by personnel of 7 Provost Group. According to military sources, the arrest followed credible human intelligence. He was nabbed at Jidari Bus Stop, Maiduguri, while allegedly attempting to flee to the Republic of Cameroon. The Army had declared him wanted on 23 July 2026 over the same allegations.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Private Yusuf absconded from his unit on 7 July 2026 and relocated to Maiduguri, where he reportedly went into hiding in the Gomari Costain area of Jere Local Government Area with the help of an associate. His capture, military authorities said, underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and the Army’s commitment to accountability.
The suspect is currently in the custody of 7 Provost Group in Maiduguri, where further investigation is ongoing. Authorities said the probe will establish the full extent of his activities and identify other individuals who may have been involved in the illegal supply chain.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated that there is no safe haven for anyone supporting terrorism or criminality, regardless of status. The military stressed its resolve to uphold professionalism, accountability, and the highest standards of integrity in the conduct of counter-insurgency operations across the theatre.
The Army urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that civilian cooperation remains critical to restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
