Navy Marines, Army Neutralise 34 Terrorists In Lake Chad Operations

Nigerian Navy Marines at the Naval Base Lake Chad, in conjunction with the 403 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have recorded significant operational gains against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the Lake Chad area, neutralising 34 terrorists in two separate operations.

Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this on Saturday, saying the operations were conducted through intelligence-driven offensives against terrorist enclaves in the waterways and surrounding communities.

He said that on 28 October 2026, the Navy Marines conducted an offensive operation against terrorist elements with initial reports indicating eight terrorists killed in action, but a subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revised the figure to 28 terrorists neutralised.

In a separate operation on 30 October 2026, the Marines deployed at Naval Base Lake Chad carried out a precision strike against an identified Boko Haram enclave at Dumba following Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that facilitated the identification and monitoring of the terrorists.

According to him, preliminary assessment of the Dumba operation indicated that about six terrorists were neutralised while several others sustained injuries, adding that casualty figures remain subject to further verification as operational assessments continue.

Captain Folorunsho noted that since their deployment, the newly established Nigerian Navy Marines have served as a force multiplier under Operation Hadin Kai, enhancing the capacity to target terrorist enclaves, disrupt hostile activities and deny terrorists freedom of action within the Lake Chad region.

He reaffirmed that the Nigerian Navy remains committed to supporting joint operations through sustained offensive actions and intelligence-driven engagements aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, restoring peace and stability in the North East and protecting vulnerable communities.
