Gridlock: Commuters Stranded As Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Traffic Extends To Ogba, Ojota, Maryland

Commuters were left stranded on Wednesday morning following a severe gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that stretched as far as Ogba, in Ikeja,, Maryland and Ojota area of Lagos. The traffic snarl, which began in the early hours, paralysed movement along the corridor, leaving motorists and passengers stuck for hours with many forced to abandon vehicles and trek to their destinations.

Our correspondent who monitored the situation at Ogba and Ikeja reports that the gridlock has caused a spillover into inner streets, with commercial buses hiking fares and commuters lamenting late arrival to work. As of press time, the cause of the gridlock was yet to be ascertained, while traffic officials are yet to clear the congestion.
