A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former Acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Nwabuoku, to 72 years imprisonment for money laundering involving N868,465,000.
Justice James Omotosho convicted Nwabuoku on nine counts, stating that funds meant for the Ministry of Defense were diverted for personal use through corporate accounts.
The court noted Nwabuoku’s inability to explain his investments and assets, including a N64m property and N200m shares.
He’ll serve 8 years each on 9 counts, concurrently. Nwabuoku refunded N220m to EFCC before conviction.
