The camp of Hon. Abayomi Hunye has said it welcomes the threatened lawsuit by Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) over allegations surrounding the Senator’s ancestral origin, describing the courtroom as the proper arena for truth.
In a press statement issued on Monday, September 15, 2026, and signed by his Media Adviser, Femi Oyewale, Hon. Hunye said his attention was drawn to a statement by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, threatening legal action over his earlier claims on the Senator’s true origin. Hunye stated categorically that he was more than ready to meet Adeola in a court of competent jurisdiction.
He described the threat as a political jamboree and a diversionary media gimmick, alleging that the political space in Ogun West has long been subjected to intimidation and suppression of truth through media propaganda. According to him, the 24-hour ultimatum issued by the Senator’s camp is an attempt to bully dissenting voices and evade public accountability regarding his eligibility to govern Ogun State.
Hunye argued that the issue of a candidate’s origin and eligibility is a constitutional matter that touches on the integrity of democratic institutions, and not a private affair. He insisted that truth remains an absolute defence against libel and challenged Senator Adeola to stop grandstanding on national television and proceed to court immediately.
He assured the public that he would not be cowed by intimidation or legal blackmail, promising to present robust, verifiable facts and documentary evidence on Adeola’s alleged Ekiti ancestry in court, while urging the people of Ogun State, particularly Ogun West, to remain calm, stressing that the era of hoodwinking the electorate with political gimmicks is over.
