INEC Announces World Press Conference as 2027 General Elections Hit 100-Day Countdown

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to mark 100 days to the 2027 General Election. The event is scheduled to hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, BAT-ICC, in Abuja by 10:00 a.m.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, the Commission will provide updates on preparations for the polls. This includes progress on the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and critical measures to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The conference will be addressed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other key stakeholders in the electoral process. The meeting, INEC said, underlines its commitment to absolute transparency, proactive public communication and collaborative engagement with actors in the electoral ecosystem.
The stakeholders’ meeting is expected to bring together political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, ICCES, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations and observer groups.
Also expected are disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives. Attendance is strictly by invitation, with accredited media representatives and invited guests required to present invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
INEC added that the event will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms to ensure wide public participation.
