INEC List: Adebutu Says No Cause for Alarm Alleges APC Pressure

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has reacted to the omission of his name from the list of governorship candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 election, saying there is no cause for alarm.

In a statement personally signed by him on Sunday, Adebutu said he remains a duly registered member of the PDP, having completed his digital registration within the stipulated period, with his membership card printed and verified. He added that his documentation was duly submitted to INEC within the prescribed time and that he has not left the party at any point.

The former federal lawmaker stated that the governorship primary that produced him as the party’s candidate was conducted with INEC officials in attendance as observers, and that relevant documents were presented for verification, certification and confirmation.

Adebutu alleged undue pressure on the electoral commission by the ruling All Progressives Congress, a concern he said the Ogun State chapter of the PDP has also expressed. He questioned the circumstances surrounding the omission, noting that other candidates of the party for House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial positions appeared on the published lists.

According to him, the development is not isolated, as the party has faced several attempts to frustrate its campaign, including restrictions on billboards, attacks at campaign grounds and harassment of members. He said despite the challenges, the PDP has remained peaceful and committed to democratic participation.

He urged members, supporters and residents of Ogun State to remain calm and steadfast, assuring that the party has taken necessary steps to address the matter through appropriate channels and to ensure due process is respected.

Adebutu reaffirmed his commitment to the Ogun project, stressing that the cause is bigger than any individual. “OGUN FOR OGUN is more than a slogan. It is a call for leadership rooted in our people, responsive to our needs and committed to our welfare. We remain focused. We remain resolute,” he said.
