A United States Air Force C-17 aircraft has delivered military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force as part of an existing partnership agreement between the two countries.
The delivery, which took place last weekend, was announced by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) on X. AFRICOM described the shipment as a demonstration of the growing security partnership between the United States and Nigeria, aimed at countering terrorism and other security threats in the region.
โPartnership in action,โ AFRICOM stated, noting that the equipment was provided under a foreign military sales agreement designed to further the U.S.-Nigeria defence cooperation. The Command said the support reflects Washingtonโs commitment to strengthening Nigeriaโs capacity to tackle insurgency and maintain regional stability.
The delivery comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to modernize the Armed Forces and enhance operational readiness. Officials say the new equipment is expected to boost the Nigerian Air Forceโs capability in surveillance, logistics, and counter-terrorism operations across the country.
