Super Eagles Captain Ekong clears air on boycott, says Players seeking payment of their outstanding allowances.

Super Eagles Captain William Troost-Ekong has confirmed that the team is not boycotting training sessions due to a special bonus demand, as they prepare for the African playoffs for the 2026 World Cup

In a tweet on Tuesday, the Eagles captain confirmed the team boycotted training over unpaid allowances and bonuses by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Ekong was reacting to reports that the players had demanded an increase in their bonuses for the World Cup playoffs.

He said “Once resolution is found we will be the first to confirm. Any other statement/claim or eSPECIALly demands other than the rightful request written about below is FALSE.
All we want and continue to do is focus on the big games ahead”

The players and officials refused to carry out their scheduled Tuesday evening training session ahead of their match against Gabon in the semi-finals for the World Cup playoffs
