Senegal to Lodge Appeal Against AFCON 2025 Forfeit Ruling

. The Senegakese foitball Federation has vowed to challenge the decision of Confederation of African football ( CAF) to award the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON ) winners medal to Morroccp

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) was notified of the decision issued, by the Appeals Jury of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in the context of case DC23316. This procedure follows the complaint filed during Match No. 52 of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco 2025, between Senegal and Morocco.

By this decision, the CAF Appeals Jury declared the appeal by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) admissible and upheld it. In doing so, the body annulled the decision previously rendered by the CAF Disciplinary Jury, on the grounds that the right to be heard of the appealing party had not been respected during the first-instance procedure.

The Appeals Jury also found that the behavior of the Senegal team violated Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON Regulations. Consequently, CAF declared that the FSF had breached Article 82 and imposed a forfeit loss on Senegal, with a 3–0 score recorded in favor of the FRMF, in accordance with Article 84.

“The Senegalese Football Federation condemns this unjust, unprecedented, and unacceptable decision, which undermines the credibility of African football.

To defend its rights and the interests of Senegalese football, the Federation will promptly initiate an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.

The FSF reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the values of integrity and sporting justice and will keep the public informed of further developments in this matter.”
