..as NDLEA nab Terrorists suppliers of Drugs in Yobe, Borno

The Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network with the arrest of two prominent kingpins, Victor Nwosa and Felix Chika Obiegbu, following the discovery of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine consignments in their Lagos homes, which were being prepared for export to Europe and beyond.

Following months of intelligence gathering, NDLEA operatives have exposed the clandestine illicit drug trade of 64-year-old Nwosa, known for his textile business, and 49-year-old Obiegbu, recognized for his wine distribution ventures, uncovering a concealed reality beneath their outward appearances.

In a coordinated operation, NDLEA-SOU operatives, who had been conducting surveillance on the suspects for several months, made arrests in various parts of Lagos as the suspects finalized preparations for exporting their consignments. On Wednesday, 17th September 2025, Nwosa was apprehended at his residence, 16 Femi Kila street, Okota, where a search revealed 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine. Similarly, Obiegbu was arrested on Thursday, 11th September, at his residence, 5 Shada Shonefun street, Aguda Surulere, where a search yielded 2.902 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Attempts by suspected suppliers of illicit drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe to move illicit drugs concealed in engine compartment of a Mercedes Benz jeep and a lady’s travelling bag were also thwarted by NDLEA operatives on stop and search operations in the two states

Following weeks of intelligence gathering, NDLEA officers in Borno arrested Baba Kaka Ibrahim, 26, on Saturday, 27th September, at Njimtilo village, while he was driving a Mercedes Benz GLK marked JRE 987 AE towards Damaturu road.

The search of the vehicle yielded 39, 380 pills of tramadol 225mg and exol-5, which were concealed in the engine compartment of the jeep. In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives in Yobe state intercepted Halima Adamu, a lady, along Damaturu-Maiduguri road, and discovered 39 parcels of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis weighing 1.4kg, hidden inside the casing of her travelling bag. The operation also led to the arrest of Habiba Muhammad, another lady linked to the consignment, at her residence in Maiduguri.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the officers and men of the SOU, Borno, Lagos, and other Commands for their exceptional performance in arrests, seizures, and dexterity. He encouraged them and their colleagues nationwide to sustain the ongoing balanced approach to the Agency’s drug control efforts. Marwa noted that the success of the various operations across the country highlights the Agency’s commitment to protecting Nigeria from illicit substances that threaten public health and national security. He emphasized that every gram of these dangerous drugs seized and removed from our streets and communities underscores our determination to safeguard our youths, disrupt criminal networks, and fortify national security.
