NDLEA storms Lagos night club, arrests owner Pretty Mike as agency finds UK-bound cocaine concealed in cream containers

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,has conducted a raid on Proxy Night club at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, where a drug party was underway, in the early hours of Sunday, 26th October.

More than 100 suspects, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, alias Pretty Mike, were apprehended and taken into custody for further screening. Cartons of illicit substances, including Loud and laughing gas, were seized from suspects at the party and the club’s store.

The raid was preceded by intelligence regarding the drug party. NDLEA operatives embedded in the party between 11pm on Saturday 25th October intervened at 3am on Sunday 26th October based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

In a related development, 70 parcels of cocaine factory-packed in walls of cocoa butter formula body cream containers destined for London, United Kingdom, have been seized by operatives of the NDLEA at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja Lagos, resulting in the arrest of three suspects in a series of follow-up operations across Lagos.

An examination of cargo packaged as personal effects on an Air Peace flight to London, UK, on October 14, 2025, revealed cocaine consignments weighing 3.60 kilograms. Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, the cargo agent who presented the consignment for airfreight, was arrested immediately, and a subsequent two-week investigation led to the arrest of two principal suspects linked to the attempted export of the concealed Class A drug to the UK.

In a follow up operation on 18th October, a female healthcare worker Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah was arrested following which Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, the Chief Executive Officer of a travel agency, Mutiu Adebiyi & Co, was arrested at his 23 Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja GRA Lagos office on Monday 20th October.

In reaction to the seizures and arrests carried out by various commands, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, exhorted them and their colleagues across the country to continue pursuing the ongoing balanced approach to the Agency’s drug control efforts.
