The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading a report by a Newspaper alleging that hundreds of Boko Haram suspects have been arrested in various parts of Lagos State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, said he ordered an immediate investigation into the publication, and findings revealed that no such arrests were made anywhere in the state.

According to the statement, police investigations involved visits to the trailer parks and communities mentioned in the report. Leaders, operators, and drivers in those locations confirmed that no individuals linked to Boko Haram were seen or apprehended.

“In addition, surveillance detectives, the State Intelligence Department (SID), and other formations were deployed to the mentioned places to verify the claims. None of the sources or stakeholders in those areas could confirm any presence or arrest of such suspects,” the statement read.

The Command described the publication as “entirely false, malicious, and ill-intentioned,” aimed at creating unnecessary fear and tension among residents.

Lagosians were advised to disregard the report and continue their lawful activities without fear, as the command remains fully committed to maintaining peace and security across the state.

“The media is urged to verify the authenticity of any information before going to press and not allow their platforms to be used to spread misinformation capable of inciting public panic,” the police said.

The Command reiterated its assurance to Lagosians of their safety and pledged to remain focused on delivering effective security across the state.
