Lagos Government Solicits More Investments for Efficient Lighting

The Lagos State government is soliciting investments to enhance the state’s lighting infrastructure, thereby facilitating its evolution into a mega city.

The General Manager of Lagos State Electricity Board, Engineer K.A.T. Balogun, made this call during the 2025 Nigeria International Lighting Expo at the Landmark Centre, Lagos.

Speaking on the Topic “Expanding Access to Efficient Lighting: Public-Private Partnerships and the future of Sustainable Power in Lagos”,Balogun highlighted the need for increased collaborative efforts to achieve effective lighting infrastructure between the Public and Private sectors.

According to him, the strategic lighting deployment in Lagos, which has a population of over 20 million people, directly affects the quality of life of its residents.

Balogun observed that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Administration’s initiatives in the energy sector have aligned with the THEEME plus agenda while presenting the administration’s scorecard.

He said “lighting initiatives under the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Administration, includes Retrofitting 22,000 streetlights to solar across highways and inner roads for ex the Airport Road, . Powering 32 General Hospitals, 336 Primary Health Centres, and over 2,000 schools with solar solutions, providing a combined 4,060 kWh of clean, reliable power, among others.”

According to Balogun, the current administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is sparing no effort to establish Lagos as a twenty-four hour city, where all aspects of the economy are underpinned by robust energy infrastructure.
