Female passenger disrupts Ibom Air flight, hit air hostess, officials at Lagos Airport

A Female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos caused drama on Sunday after allegedly assaulting a flight attendant and causing a disturbance at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
Videos of the incident, shared on X by user #OHOgunbiyi, showed a woman in a white top and black trousers confronting airport security and airline staff.
A witness claimed the woman slapped an air hostess. The situation escalated until airport police intervened and restored order.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, commented on the incident, stating it was a result of the passenger’s failure to follow instructions.
Achimugu stressed that passenger compliance with crew directives, such as turning off mobile phones during takeoff and landing, is crucial for safety and helps prevent confrontations.
He said, “When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff/landing, simply comply. I can’t understand why simple routine issues would lead to incidents like this. Passengers need to understand that they have responsibilities, not just rights. Will address this after more details become clearer by tomorrow.”
