DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND ENGAGES WITH BANKERS FORUM IN PROACTIVE MEASURES AHEAD OF YULETIDE SEASON

The Delta State Commissioner of Police,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has convened a strategic security meeting with the Bankers’ Forum on 23rd September 2025. Attendees included the Chief Security Officer of Central Bank of Nigeria, Asaba, and thirty-nine bank heads across the state.
The meeting aimed to bolster bank security ahead of the impending yuletide season. The meeting took into consideration the historical surge in population and criminal activity during the ember months.
In a statement released by the iimage maker of Delta Police Command, the CP who was duly represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Opertions,DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted that, it is important for bankers to take adequate security measures to checkmate the activities of criminals who may want to take advantage of the festive period Noting that the command and the capital Asaba are bounded by the Eastern part , Edo State and other parts of the country, there is a need to reassess these security strategies.
The DCP operations thus recommended that the installation of advanced and functional CCTV cameras in the banking environment is crucial to support the police’s monitoring efforts in the banking environment.
Evangeline Patrick, Chief Security Officer of the Central Bank of Nigeria, commended the command for this initiative and stated that they do not release cash to banks without an adequate number of policemen on specie escort.
The DCP reemphasized the command’s pledge to fight crime and criminality in the state, pointing out that the meeting constitutes just the starting point of proactive steps being taken by the command to ensure a crime-free Ember months.
