PENGASSAN Suspends Strike Action Amidst Dispute with Dangote Group

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria,PENGASSAN has called off its strike following a resolution facilitated by the Federal Government between the Oil and Gas workers and the Dangote Group.
During a press briefing yesterday, PENGASSAN President Festus Osifo announced that the Union’s National Executive Council held an emergency meeting and decided to pause the strike. This decision aims to allow the process of reinstating the dismissed workers from the Dangote refinery to proceed, as all parties have agreed.
Additionally, the suspension serves as a gesture of respect for the Federal Government’s persistent efforts in addressing and resolving this dispute.
Dangote Group has agreed to immediately begin the process of redeploying the sacked Dangote refinery staffs to other companies within the Dangote Group, with no loss of pay.
The government representatives who attended the meeting comprised National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Labour and Employment Dr. Dingyadi, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Atiku Bagudu, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi, and the Director-General of the NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
