Elderly Woman Assaulted over Alleged Witchcraft Accusation by Son in Law in Ilesa, Osun State

There has been a report of a disturbing incident of domestic violence and elder abuse in Ilesa, Osun State, involving Mrs. Titilayo Gbadebo, an elderly woman, who was allegedly assaulted by Mr. Olagoke Ogunyemi, her son-in-law, at her residence in the Aralopon area of the city.
According to reports, Mr. Olagoke Ogunyemi, a middle-aged man, alleged that his mother-in-law engaged in witchcraft and purportedly transferred it to his wife, Mrs. Odunayo Ogunyemi, who, along with her two children, has been missing for over two years.
In her account, the elderly woman, Mrs. Gbadebo, visibly distressed, stated that she has no knowledge of her daughter’s whereabouts. She explained that her daughter, Odunayo fled her marital home following repeated instances of domestic violence allegedly perpetrated by her husband and members of his family. She further alleged that Mr. Olagoke Ogunyemi had once threatened to end his family’s lives by deliberately crashing his car with his wife and children inside.
According to Mrs. Gbadebo, her daughter’s attempts to seek solace at her mother’s house were consistently thwarted by Mr. Ogunyemi, who would repeatedly locate her and force her to return to the matrimonial residence.
The Ilesa Divisional Police Command has purportedly been notified, and probes are ongoing to locate and apprehend Mr. Olagoke Ogunyemi
Mrs Gbadebo is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital
