Combined military, police efforts neutralize bandits, dismantle networks in Kogi

An ongoing joint operations involving the troops of the Nigeria Army and police have led to the neutralisation of scores of bandits and the dismantling of their networks across forested areas of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, CSP William Ovye Aya, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Lokoja.

Aya said the sustained onslaught against criminal elements was being executed with “vigour, commitment and utmost professionalism,” with support from the Nigeria Police Force Airwing, which provided precision air strikes during the operations.

According to him, the coordinated operations have forced bandits to flee their hideouts, while several others were neutralised as their operational networks were dislodged.

“The ongoing onslaught against bandit operations in Kogi State by the joint police and military has yielded fruitful results. Bandits were flushed out, their networks dislodged, and scores were neutralised,” the statement said.

The police spokesperson urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report anyone observed with gunshot wounds, injuries or suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.

Aya also called on residents to support the ongoing operations by providing credible intelligence on criminal activities within their communities, stressing that security remained a collective responsibility.

“Together, we can make Nigeria better,” he said.

On Saturday night,there was an exchange of gunfire between Nigerian troops and suspected terrorists in Obajana town, Kogi State,as security forces sustained ongoing clearance operations in the area.
