Customs Confiscates Rolls Royce valued at N905m, Narcotics, Other Contrabands in Ogun

.The Nigeria Customs Service Ogun 1 Area Command has impounded three luxury vehicles, including a 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost, with a duty-paid value of N905m.

The Command also seized a 2014 4matic Benz valued at N21,423,400 and a 2018 Honda Accord model worth N32,200,000. Furthermore, the Command confiscated 4,424 bags of foreign parboiled rice, exceeding 7 truckloads, 1,936 parcels of cannabis sativa, and 105 used tyres, totaling N1,401,531,923.95 in duty-paid value.

During a briefing in Idiroko on Thursday, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command, announced this development. Otunla explained that the seizures were an outcome of the Command’s unrelenting efforts to combat smuggling and its resolve to resist the maneuvers of economic saboteurs who jeopardize the nation’s economic and security well-being.

He said “In addition to these anti-smuggling feats, the Command also in July 2025, generated a total revenue of N45,054,191.00, which is higher than the 35,327,852.00 recorded in the corresponding month of 2024. representing a commendable increase of 27.47%.

“This remarkable growth is a reflection of our enhanced compliance drive, improved monitoring of border activities and robust stakeholder engagement.”

In line with the inter-agency collaboration framework, Otunla also handed over the illicit drugs seized to the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Command, Ekundayo Williams for further investigation and necessary action.

Otunla however reiterated that the fight against smuggling remains a collective responsibility assuring that the Command would continue to build on collaboration, intelligence sharing, and innovation, in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi who has been consistent in his drive for consolidation, collaboration, and innovation.

The Controller equally warned smugglers and their collaborators, pledging that the command will not relent in its crackdown against the economic saboteurs.

He said “We remain vigilant, resolute, and unyielding. No matter the sophistication of your tricks, our officers will continue to thwart your antics, and we shall bring the full weight of the law against you.”

Otunla commended the operatives of the Command for their unwavering dedication and perseverance, while also expressing appreciation for the support of other security agencies and the cooperation of patriotic members of the border communities who continue to provide vital intelligence to aid the Command’s operations
