Tinubu Inaugurates APC Presidential Campaign Council, Says Party Ready to Renew Covenant With Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, declaring that the ruling party is united and ready to renew its covenant with Nigerians.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, the President charged members of the Council and party leaders to demonstrate unity, commitment and dedication in the task ahead, while ensuring that governance remains on track.
Tinubu expressed confidence in the ability of the Council to deliver on its objectives, stressing that unity, discipline and shared purpose would be critical to the party’s success at the polls.
“As I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and spirit full of resolve, it is my honour to inaugurate the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 General Election. I thank all of you for the last election, but no one gets credit for an incomplete assignment until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your electoral wards, until you deliver the votes,” he said.
The President acknowledged the advice of the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who urged him not to allow campaign activities to distract from governance, assuring that governors and party leaders would take charge of spreading the party’s message.
Responding, Tinubu described the advice as timely, noting that while the Council would intensify political mobilisation across states and local governments, his administration would remain focused on delivering its promises and meeting the aspirations of Nigerians.
“We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in and invest for the future of our children,” the President said, adding that members of the Council must engage Nigerians constructively and promote the policies and programmes of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Earlier, Vice President Kashim Shettima commended Tinubu for his courage in deepening democracy, recalling his support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2007, while criticising Atiku for belittling the Office of the President and faulting ADC presidential candidate Peter Obi for peddling statistics without context.
President Tinubu also lauded Vice President Shettima for his patriotism, and commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, for their roles in taming the Atlantic Ocean encroachment during his tenure as Lagos governor, saying, “We dared the Atlantic Ocean, and the result is the Atlantic City in Lagos.”
