July 1 marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. China hold the celebration of the 105th founding anniversary of the CPC in Beijing. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, addresses in celebration that the CPC possesses incomparable fine qualities:
The dedication to the pursuit of truth that ensures it always advances in the right direction.The deep bond with the people that ensures it always enjoys a solid foundation. The determination to shoulder historical missions that ensures it always hold the strategic initiation.
The readiness to follow the trend of development that ensures it always stays at the forefront of the times. The courage and capability to fight that ensures it always maintains unwavering confidence in victory. The commitment to self-strengthening that ensures it always keeps its vitality. These qualities are the key to understanding why the Communist Party of China has been so successful.
Since its founding in 1921, the CPC has led the Chinese people to overcome one seemingly insurmountable difficulty after another and made remarkable achievements that have attracted worldwide attention. During the New Democratic Revolution, the CPC led the Chinese people in arduous struggle and persevered, establishing the People’s Republic of China and achieving national independence and the liberation of the people; During the period of socialist revolution and construction, the Party united and led the Chinese people in pursuing self-reliance and hard work, established the basic socialist system, and achieved the most extensive and profound social transformation in Chinese history;
In the reform, opening up and new era of socialist modernization construction, we have liberated our minds, forged ahead with determination, created and developed socialism with Chinese characteristics, and promoted the great leap of the Chinese nation from standing up to becoming prosperous; Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, we have been confident in self-improvement, upholding integrity and innovation, achieving the first centenary goal, comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, creating great achievements of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation entering an irreversible historical process.
It was under the leadership of the CPC that the Chinese people overthrew oppression, founded the People’s Republic of China, and put an end to China’s semi-colonial and semi-feudal past.Over the past 105 years, the CPC has led China from a poor and backward country to the world’s second-largest economy, writing a remarkable chapter in the history of human development. Since entering the new era, China has accomplished the historic task of eliminating absolute poverty. Nearly 100 million rural residents have been lifted out of poverty, creating a miracle in the history of humanity’s fight against poverty.
Why has the CPC been able to lead the Chinese people in overcoming one challenge after another? The answer lies in the Party’s founding aspiration and mission: to seek happiness for the Chinese people, rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, and the common good of humanity.
This is not just a slogan, but a value pursuit integrated into every policy and action. Its commitment to the people’s well-being is reflected in China’s establishment of the world’s largest social security and healthcare systems. Average life expectancy has risen from 35 years to over 79 years. Its commitment to national rejuvenation is reflected in China’s pursuit of an independent path of peaceful development and the historic transformation from standing up, to growing prosperous, and to becoming strong. Its commitment to the common good of humanity is demonstrated by the CPC’s consistent efforts to link the future of the Chinese people with that of all peoples around the world. China never seeks hegemony or imposes its will on others. Instead, it remains committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

In June 2026, the State Council Information Office of China released a white paper titled “More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China’s Principles, Proposals and Actions”. The white paper points out that global governance is a common endeavor that bears on the well-being of all humanity, and building a just and equitable global governance system is a shared vision long pursued by people from across the world. China has always been an active participant in, contributor to, and builder of global governance.
In the new era, President Xi Jinping put forward the vision of building community with a shared future for mankind. In promoting a global governance system characterized by extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit, he has called for true multilateralism to foster an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. In 2025, President Xi proposed a new initiative, the Global Governance Initiative (GGI).it is designed to offer a Chinese solution to the two pressing questions of the era: what kind of global governance system should be established, and how global governance can be reformed and improved. Upon its introduction, it swiftly gained support from nearly 160 countries and international organizations, including Nigeria, and over 60 countries joining the Group of Friends of Global Governance.
Guided by the vision of working for the common good of humanity, the CPC has advanced the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, together with the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests in developing relations with Africa, and promoted the building of a high-level China–Africa community with a shared future for the new era. Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest economies and most populous countries, is one of China’s most important strategic partners on the continent. China and Nigeria share similar historical experiences in opposing colonialism and pursuing national independence. Today, Under the strategic guidance of the two Heads of State and the framework of high-quality ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ cooperation and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the achievements of Chinese modernization and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Nigeria are constantly benefiting the people of both countries.
China–Nigeria cooperation has delivered fruitful results. The Lekki Deep Sea Port, invested in, constructed and operated by China Harbour Engineering Company, has completely changed the situation of insufficient port throughput capacity in Nigeria. It is expected to bring more than 360 billion US dollars in economic benefits and create 170,000 jobs opportunities for Nigeria during the 45-year concession period. In addition, the Lekki Free Trade Zone and the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone have attracted more than 300 enterprises to settle in, creating about 70,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Lagos Blue Rail Line has reduced a two-hour journey to just 20 minutes; Our Consulate General, in collaboration with the overseas Chinese business and community within its consular district, has continued to organize the ‘Renewed Hope, Rebirth from the light’ charity activity, having provided support to nearly 500 Nigerian cataract patients. We also jointly launched the ‘Together Fight Against Hunger’ Charity activity, which has assisted over 1,000 low-income Nigerian households, thereby making a Chinese contribution to Nigeria’s efforts to reduce poverty and combat hunger.
Over the past 105 years, the Communist Party of China has achieved remarkable success not through plunder or expansion, but through hard work, self-reliance, and a commitment to peaceful development. This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria, as well as the China–Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
In the future, China will continue to work together with Nigeria and other African countries, support each other in pursuing modernization, and jointly advance the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative.
The Chinese Consulate General will continue to adhere to the concept of principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests with Africa, and work closely with the Nigerian side to make greater contributions to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Nigeria, and building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
