A self-styled developer, Chinedu Onu, has been arrested in Ikot Ukpong, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, over alleged production and adulteration of different brands of alcoholic drinks.
The suspect, said to be from Enugu State, was apprehended by local youths after he was caught operating a fake drink production site. Items recovered at the scene included bottles of assorted beverage brands, labels, bottle caps, and other packaging materials used in the adulteration.
Confirming the arrest, community sources said Onu was handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution. Authorities are expected to determine the extent of the operation and whether other persons were involved.
The incident underscores growing concerns over counterfeit and adulterated drinks in circulation. Security agencies have urged residents to report suspicious production sites and to buy beverages only from verified outlets to protect public
