Police Arrest Man Over Viral Domestic Violence Video, Remand Him in Kirikiri

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Emeka Joseph in connection with an assault on his cohabiting partner, Ezeka Chisom, following the circulation of a viral video showing the incident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Joseph assaulted Chisom at their residence, inflicting facial injuries on the victim. Police said the suspect was apprehended after the video drew public attention and complaints.
Joseph has been charged to court for assault occasioning harm and domestic violence. He was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre and the case has been adjourned to August 3, 2026, police confirmed Tuesday.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for domestic violence. He assured residents that cases of abuse will receive prompt attention and urged victims and witnesses to report to the nearest police station or formation.
