Troops Overwhelm Lakurawa Terrorists in Kebbi, Recover RPGs, IEDs

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have overrun a Lakurawa terrorist camp in Dogon Daji, Dandi LGA of Kebbi State, recovering a large cache of high-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices. The offensive on 14 June 2026 was part of the Joint Task Force North-West’s sustained push to rid the region of terrorism and banditry, the Nigerian Army said on Monday.
In a statement signed by Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, troops brought “superior firepower to bear” on the Lakurawa group, forcing the terrorists to flee. A follow-up pursuit along their withdrawal routes led to the recovery of arms and logistics abandoned by the fleeing fighters.
Items recovered include Rocket-Propelled Grenade launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple IEDs, two motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers, and various personal belongings. The Army said troops emerged from the engagement unscathed, with zero casualties recorded.
The operation underscores the JTF’s “unwavering commitment” to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West, the statement added. “The Nigerian Army remains resolute in sustaining offensive pressure on these criminal elements, denying them freedom of action and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens.”
