Tinubu Tasks Appeal Court Justices on Speedy, Fair Adjudication

President Bola Tinubu has again charged the Nigerian judiciary to deliver swift, fair justice that is blind to a litigant’s status or tribe, warning that a compromised legal system threatens democratic stability.
Speaking on Monday in Abuja through Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President commissioned the new Court of Appeal, Abuja Division complex in Dakibiyu. Tinubu said the building reinforces his _Renewed Hope Agenda_ and the administration’s determination to give justice sector operators a befitting home.
“To my Lords Justices, as you move into this complex, Nigeria asks one thing of you: let justice be swift. Let it be fair. Let it be blind to status, tribe, or purse. Let the common man feel that this Court is truly his last hope,” the President said. He lamented widespread citizen frustration over prolonged case backlogs and slow adjudication.
The new Abuja Division is expected to ease the appellate court’s workload and reduce delays in hearing appeals from the FCT and neighbouring states. Shettima urged Justices to match the improved infrastructure with improved case turnaround, saying public confidence in the judiciary depends on both fairness and speed.
