Tinubu Condemns Killing of Abducted Teacher, Vows Rescue of Oyo Kidnap Victims

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of one of the teachers abducted in Esiele community, Oyo State, describing it as barbaric as security forces continue rescue operations. Gunmen invaded the community in Oriire Local Government Area last Friday, abducting staff, students, and pupils from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.
The President said security operatives are working around the clock to free the victims and apprehend the bandits and their collaborators. He extended sympathies to Governor Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State government, and affected families, and assured that the federal government would collaborate closely with the state to secure the release of all hostages.
According to a Statement from Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclised that the President commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioners of Police in Oyo and Kwara for the rapid deployment of tactical units and the Intelligence Response Team. He noted that the IGP is personally leading the tech-driven operation and expressed confidence that a breakthrough is imminent, adding that both the bandits and local collaborators would be “fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Tinubu also renewed his call for the creation of state police, arguing that persistent kidnapping cases underscore the need for localized security in underserved areas. He urged the National Assembly to accelerate the passage of legislation establishing state police forces.
