TROOPS KILL 20 TERRORISTS, RECOVER MOTORCYCLES IN ZAMFARA OPERATION

Troops of the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, in coordination with ground forces, have neutralised about 20 terrorists during an exploitation operation in Zamfara State, security sources said Sunday.
The operation took place at about 1:40 p.m. on 10 May 2026, following aerial interdiction of suspected terrorist locations. Combined troops drawn from Forward Operating Bases in Isa and Shinkafi conducted a follow-up exploitation operation to Tunfa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area.
According to sources, the troops advanced through Kamawara in Isa LGA and other adjoining communities including Kalage, Kalage Jena and Mashema before arriving at the target location. The movement was part of a coordinated sweep to deny criminal elements freedom of action across the state.
Battle Damage Assessment indicated that about 20 terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while two motorcycles were recovered from the scene. No military casualties were reported, the sources added.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on armed groups and ensure lasting peace in the North West. They added that troops will continue coordinated air and ground operations to consolidate gains in Zamfara and surrounding areas.
