LAGOS SEALS HUAWEI OFFICE, 11 OTHERS OVER POLLUTION IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Government through the State’s Environmental Protection Agency( LASEPA) on Tuesday sealed multiple business premises across Lagos for persistent environmental violations, including noise and air pollution.

The enforcement exercise covered Abiodun Street, Somolu; Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road; Osolo Way, Ajao Estate; Isolo Industrial Scheme; Ire Akari Estate, Isolo; Oke Afa, Isolo; Jakande Estate, Isolo; and Oshodi/Apapa Expressway, Oshodi.

Affected establishments are Citadel Prayer and Testimony Ministry, Emperor Superstore, Hotel Padelia, EED Hotel & Suites, Huawei Technology Company, The Starview Terrace Hotel, Emerey Hotel, Cameo Suite, Easterline Ace Bar, Alpacino Hotel, Fish Logistics, and Mac Dec.

LASEPA said the facilities — ranging from religious centres and hospitality outfits to logistics firms and retail outlets — breached environmental standards, particularly noise and air pollution regulations and other operational requirements.

General Manager Dr Tunde Ajayi said the action followed “series of warnings and compliance checks, which the affected businesses failed to heed.”

“Unchecked noise pollution can have serious implications for public health and safety,” Ajayi stated, restating the agency’s resolve to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for residents.

He urged business owners across Lagos to obtain necessary environmental permits, adopt effective noise control measures, and comply fully with environmental laws to avoid sanctions.

The agency added that monitoring and enforcement will continue statewide.
