Woman Recounts Traumatic Experience of Being Raped by Kidnappers and Witnessing the Murder of Husband

Amidu Ramat Agbeke, a middle-aged woman, has shared her harrowing experience in the hands of kidnappers along the Kaduna-Kano highway. In an interview with journalists in Lagos, accompanied by her family members, Ramat described her encounter with the kidnappers as a traumatic experience that will remain with her for a long time.
She said ” i am the wife of late Amidu MUHAMMED. I am a businesswoman dealing with food stuff and commodities. I have been travelling to kano for my business activities for the past 5 years
On the 12th Day of September 2023, I travelled with my husband, Late Amidu MUHAMMED, to kano for my normal business as usual.
On that fateful day, along kaduna to kano Road, our bus was hijacked by kidnappers, and almost everybody on the bus was kidnapped including myself and my Late husband Amidu MUHAMMED”
According to Ramat, the kidnappers took a significant amount of money from her and subsequently forced her to have sexual intercourse with them in her husband’s presence.
“The sum of 1,150,000 (one million, one hundred and fifty thousand naira) was collected from me, and I was raped by the kidnappers in the presence of my husband. My husband could not bear it, and he was trying to drag with them, and my husband was shot dead instantly.
I was beaten, tortured and sexually harrased before their boss commanded them to release me after I have spent 3 weeks with them since there was no one to pay ransom for me after my husband had been killed. ”
The timely intervention of good Samaritans who spotted her body after being dumped by the kidnappers along the expressway ensured she received immediate first aid treatment at a nearby hospital.
Ramat was discharged and subsequently transferred to the Kwara State Ministry of Health, General Hospital, Afon for further treatment, after which she was finally discharged on October 15, 2023.and returned home to her residence at 14, Afon Close, Adewole Estate, Ilorin, kwara State.
The traumatic experience Ramat endured at the hands of kidnappers ultimately led to her relocation to No. 10, Bello Way, Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria.
