Police in Abuja have taken a pastor into custody amid allegations of sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old girl in Mpape, sources within the police department revealed on Monday.
According to reports, the incident occurred on August 2, 2025, at approximately 1803 hours, when a resident of Dogo Block Off Mashafa Road, Mpape, reported that her 13-year-old daughter had been away from home for four days and had returned.
In an attempt to discipline the girl, the family’s neighbor, Pastor Joseph (surname not disclosed) of the same address, stepped in and advised that the daughter be taken to his house for counseling.
.Investigations later revealed that the suspect had sexually exploited and abused the girl. The FCT Police promptly apprehended the suspect, and medical examinations were conducted on both the victim and suspect at a hospital.
“The victim is receiving medical attention and psychological support, in line with standard procedures for alleged child victims,”sources said.
The sources said that the case will be processed under Nigeria’s laws on child rights and sexual violence. If found guilty, the suspect faces serious penalties, including potential imprisonment and other sanctions as prescribed by law.
