LAGOS LG POLLS: Abiru commends LASIEC as APC sweeps Polls

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Tokunbo Abiru has commended the Lagos State independent electoral commission for conducting a free and fair election at the just concluded Lagos state local government elections last Saturday.
The Senator made this remarks after casting his vote at Aga Ward E, Polling Booth 11 in Ikorodu, Lagos. According to him , grassroots election will help in deepening democracy in Nigeria
” Local government elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. They form the bedrock of governance, as decisions made at the grassroots level directly affect the daily lives of citizens. Strengthening leadership at this level ensures a more accountable, responsive, and people-centered government.” He said
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress ( APC) has been declared winner of the 57 chairmanship positions in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) declared the APC the winner of all 20 local government chairmanship positions in the Saturday’s local government election in the state.
The party also secured all 37 local council development areas (LCDA) chairmanship seats, consolidating its dominance across the state’s local government structures.
In addition to the chairmanship victories, the APC swept 375 councilor positions, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with only a single councilor seat.
