Unknown Gunmen assassinate Miyetti Allah leader in Kwara

The leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, was brutally murdered by unknown gunmen last Saturday , March 8th , 2025 .
The incident occurred around 10:00 pm in front of his residence in Oke Ose, Ilorin.
According to eyewitnesses, Sakaina’s attackers left him in a pool of his own blood, without taking any valuables.
A source described the scene, saying, “His attackers left him in the pool of his blood. They didn’t collect anything from him and their motive for such action is surprising”
Aina’u Sarki, a witness who was with Sakaina just 20 minutes before his murder, recounted the horrific event.
“I was with him 20 minutes before he was killed. Someone called me on phone and told me that he was shot dead”
Muhammed Abdullahi, Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations, Fulani, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, he was killed in front of his residence on Saturday night by some gunmen who left him for dead. We are preparing for his janaza as I speak to you now, but the police were here yesterday and have started an investigation”
.In a statement on Sunday, the Public Relations Officer for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the the killing of MACBAN leader in Kwara State, Abubakar, stating that officers recovered five expended 7.62mm shells from the scene and have since deposited Abubakar’s remains at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary.
“The Kwara State Police Command confirms the murder of Alhaji Idris Abubakar, Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Kwara State, who was shot dead on March 8, 2025, at the entrance of his residence in Oke Ose, Oke-Oyi,” the statement read
The State Criminal Investigation Department has commenced a full investigation. Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya assures the public that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and urges anyone with useful information to come forward.”
Sakaina, 32, was a former Special Assistant to Moro Local Government Chairman and a Youth Leader of the Fulanis in Kwara.
His murder has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to wonder about the motive behind the killing.
